Liliac Sky and Paradoxal...by Chanel

My photo shoot included Lilac Sky by Chanel. I posted the bottles a few days ago but here is what it looks like out of the bottle. A pretty lilac with a slight pink shimmer hue. Great nails with great polish.

The ever so popular Paradoxal by Chanel was also a choice for this week. I picked this for one of obsessed nail polish clients. Here it is in the bottle and out. It takes on a grey, brownish, purple color depending on which way you look at it. Simply gorgeous! BTW...her nails are natural. :) Thank you Choc!

Perfection is Possible

Nails, Beauty and One of those things under the Sun!!

When ladies get together I am always, always asked questions about nails. What do I think about this, What do I think about that, What do my nails look like, What can I do to get them stronger, Where do you do nails etc. LOL. I find it cute, flattering and sometimes a lot of fun. But there is always someone in the bunch who never did nails a day in their life who wants to know more than me. I just keep it polite and listen to what they have to say. Just for the record, I do not know everything, however I do know A LOT about almost everything nail related. I'm always educating myself and learning different things about nails. My strength is in natural nail care because it's what I believe in and what I am very good at. I used to do the artificial nail application but I chose to specialize in natural nail care because I want my nails to remain in good standing. I have nothing against artificial nails but I think you should decided on what you want out of nail care and what best fits your needs. If you want nails that don't chip for 3 weeks or can't get them done every week, then use Cal gel, Shellac, Axxium, acrylic, wraps etc. But remember when you remove these products, your nails will not be the same for a long time. If you prefer the health of your nails over an overlay and don't mind having polish on for 3 to 7 days as opposed to 3 weeks, then regular manicures are the way to go. The cost averages out to almost the same cost but artificial can sometimes cost a little more. This was a big topic the other day at an event and I gave my opinion. Do what best fits you, but do something. Nail care is a necessity. It's part of being well groomed and should be just as important as washing your hair...pedicures too!! Don't be a fake lady and just get your feet done in the summer. Your feet are just as important too. So ladies, make time for both no matter what method you decide on.

Now that you heard the nail portion of this event, here is the discussion board of the night...One of those things under the sun... Morals, opinions and judgement. I listened a lot but chimed in when needed. People have so many different views on different issues. It was interesting to hear what people thought about, Oprah, Justin Beiber, Tiger Woods, R Kelly, Barbara Walters, Akon, Common, Michael Jackson, the grandaugther of Harry Winston, Bill Clinton, George Bush and of course President Obama. These were the names of the celebrity and political world that came up during the coarse of talking about nails and beauty. How it all started  I do not remember,  but it was interesting conversation. I hope everyone took something positive away from these conversations and learned a little more about people and their morals and judgements. All I have to say is, don't judge anyone because its not our call to do so...you never know when you will find yourself in the same situation that you just judged.  Let's make the world a better place and stop destroying it. We all have our hang ups but let's use less judgement and more good. You'll find that you will be a much happier human being. :)
I'm just saying...

Serena Williams gives Oprah Winfrey a Manicure!...Let's talk about it

Everyday I record one of my favorite talk shows, 'The Oprah Show". Today's show was a pleasure to watch on one hand but then a sad face on the other hand. It was a sad face because I always wanted to give Ms. Oprah a manicure :(  It's hard to watch someone who doesn't have a license take a shot at the dream service I always wanted to do. Oh well Ill just be happy for Serena. :) I mean her name is Serena Williams so that's enough of a resume. This is her dream job, to become a licensed manicurist and Im happy for her to be able to persue that career dream, but how lucky is she to have Oprah as her practice client. It doesnt get any better than that. She even got Oprah to get glitter polish with rhinestones. Loves It!!  :)  Well, maybe one day I can give Ms. Winfrey a pedicure and Serena Williams too.

Serena will also have a polish line by O.P.I. called Grand Slam and all the colors will be named after her tennis tournaments. That is hot!  I can't wait to see them. Good Luck Serena.

Check it Out!

All in a days work.  I love my job, Im always doing something different and un expected. You never know what you will be doing next. I got a chance to do a full set of checkered minx for an ad for Bloomingdales. Since a lot of you are not here in the New York area, I am giving you the look of the nails for the ad. The final product looks awesome. Minx is still alive!

Chanel, Chanel, ohhhhhh Chanel!!!!

Did I mention I LOVE Chanel anything? Oh, Oh well, I Love Chanel anything. LOL...I just received a few Chanel colours from the great staff over at Lancome. Thank you Lancome, Thank you Kristen!  :) They sent me 6 great colors, some of which were used for this fashion week. I know we are all obsessed over the khaki collection I posted last week but here is a change of pace for you.  There is something for everyone with these colors. Its a bit price heavy for one bottle of Chanel colour but at least you can say you own a piece of Chanel at minimal cost. :)  Gotta Love it!  S.

Qtica Lemon Dream, Scrub a Dub Dub is Dubelicious!!

Every few months or so I try to switch up my pedicure and manicure products for my private clients. I have my usual products and of course my favorites but its always fun to do nice things for my clients and surprise them with a new scent or product. Qtica isn't new because I do use it, however this is a new scent that I haven't tried and I really like it. It's Lemon dream sugar scrub and mask. The scrub is soft and gel like which is great for applying. Nothing abrasive here. :)  The moisture mask is good especially now since the weather is changing. You always need to give your hands a pick me up every few weeks and this is a great one. I included these 2 items in a lemon lime pedicure I came up with. You add lemons and limes to your foot and hand soak, which in my case is Epicuren rosemary soak which turns the water a pretty emerald green, Yum! It looks pretty and feels great. The green rubbed off on this client when she went to select her color polish ...LOL!

Zoya created the Spoon...Now your nails can spoon with a polish you were thinking about :)

Yes, I am a little late but not because I didn't know but because I was waiting for the rest of the blogger world to go crazy with posting about it on September 1, 2010. The secret was,Zoya told us all about the spoons, but our lips were sealed until September 1st. So now that the excitement has worn off, I have to bring it back by posting about the spoons now!. They are incredible and a great idea. How it works is this, you go to http://www.zoya.com/ and click on spoons. You can choose any color you had doubts about and purchase the spoon for 50 cents plus "free shipping" Yozzers!  free shipping? That makes it well worth it. Once you purchase as many spoons as you wish, the 50 cents is credited to your account to go towards your actually nail polish purchase. How grand is that!!!! So how can you lose. Instead of buying a full bottle of polish at full price, not knowing exactly what the color looks like for you, you can spend just 50 cents and know for sure with little financial burden.  The spoons are made in the shape of your nail bed and you can place it right over your nails to see what the color would look like if your nails were polished with the exact color. As you may know, Zoya is one of my very favorite brands of polish and I work with them quite often, so I had the spoons with my "wicked and wonderful" collection and was ecstatic....for 2 reasons. One because it was a great idea for them and two because I no longer have to paint my nail wheel with all the new colors I get. Zoya, you just saved me a ton of time, Thank you!... I knew Perfection is Possible!!! :)

****Special Announcement****
Zoya's remover won Allure's best for nail polish remover.  Please give them a hand clap. It is the best remover out, moisturizing, great color and very little smell. It will now bear the stamp of approval from Allure's Editors Choice Award. Congratulations Zoya!!!

Fashion Week Day 6- "Marchesa" ... and its worth the wait!

My fashion week has come to an end. This was my last show that I worked and it was worth the wait to get to see these pieces. Marchesa is no stranger to beautiful gowns and dresses, but this gown is truly a work of art. Her show was also a presentation and the models look like statues, they were so perfect. This is the ever so sought after "Georgina" and she looks amazing in this show stopper of a piece. I am sure this will bless a red carpet next year... Marchesa always makes the line up. The nails were done in a french pink which is a very sheer color so taking a picture was really pointless because you wouldn't be able to see it.  The polish was supplied by "Le Metier de Beauté".

I'm glad I was able to share my fashion week experience with you from a professional/manicurist point of view. You got to see what my backstage looks like and the work I have to do :) There was sooooo much more to post but I had to post what I felt was interesting enough for my followers. I hope this was interesting as well as informative and fun. Maybe I'll get to see some you next season  for Fashion Night Out or at a show. :) Don't forget to take a look at all my fashion week post to re-cap how great of time it was.

Fashion Week Day 5- Jason Wu for "TSE" (pronouned "say") fashion Presentation and nail polish Customized by me," Perfection is Possible"

As the key (lead manicurist) for several shows, the job includes doing test for polish colors days and sometimes a day before the show with the designers. Some test go very easy and they pick a color already within my kit but then there are some that no matter how many colors you may have, they are just not quite the color they are looking for. In that case I have to custom make a polish on the spot! This is were my years of experience come into play. :) The designer wanted a taupe, grey, brown tone, sheer polish to compliment her line. Believe it or not it took 5 different shades to come up with this color. I used Zoya's very popular "Kelly", Purity, Amanda, Skye and Olivia and clear polish.

I mixed all these up and came up with...

...this. It doesn't have a name but hopefully it will be re produced and you can get a nail polish customed made by yours truly. :)  It is very hard to see in the bottle but the color is very pretty , if I do say so myself. LOL...but the models and the make up artist loved it as well and wanted to keep it. Sorry I couldn't give it to you ladies but there were only 4 bottles made and one of them went back to Zoya for a closer look. :)
The presentation went well and the clothes look effortless! Sweaters woven together with a perfect fit and the shoes were mules by YSL. You know I'm a shoe girl so my heart went a patter for these too.

This is Erin in "TSE"
FYI- if you don't know the difference between a presentation and a show, the difference is, in a presentation the models stand still like dolls while the guest walk around to see each and every look. A show is the opposite, the guest sit while the models walk a runway for them to see each and every look. This show was a presentation and the models had to stand in those shoes for over an hour. OUCH!!!! I wish someone gave them moleskin for some comfort. :(

Fashion Week day 3- "Thuy" at the Audi Showroom

Thuy was the show for today. It was held at the Audi showroom on Park ave in New York. The cars were replaced with models, clothes, benches, make up, hair and of course nails. The color of choice was "kelly" one of Zoya's biggest sellers for the season. It went well with Thuy's yellow and navy collection and complimented all skin tones. It was a hit with the make up and hair team, I had to give them the bottle of polish. Enjoy ladies!!

Meet model Olga and Zoya's "Kelly"-Gorgeous!

This is what all the hard work looks like once all the prepping is completed.

Thank you to the Zoya team for doing nails in a flash.

Symone, Keisha, Erin(Zoya polish fairy) and Yassi. Thank you ladies!
On to the next one... S.

Chanel Soho Store give manicures with their new Khaki collection at FNO(fashion nigth out)

Be prepared to shell out $75 if you want the khaki look from Chanel. These polishes $25 each and were the color options for FNO at the Soho Chanel store. The line for manicures was just as long as the line outside the store to get in. They sold out so you may not be in luck when trying to find them other than on eBay for double the price. Good Luck!
Perfection is Possible was just given Chanel polish and when I pick them up I will let you see what they really look like.

Fashion Night Out...September 10, 2010

Fashion Night Out started last season to kick off Fashion Week. This year was no different. It was bigger and better than the one before it. Fashion Night Out is a night of glamour, celebrities, parties, fashion and shopping held on 5th ave and downtown in Soho in New York. Stores hosted events and parties with free drinks, food and plenty of surprises. The streets were filled with people dressed up and walking in 3-5 inch heels...my kinda of night. :)
During the day I worked 2 shows and this night I had to work an event held at The Plaza Hotel for "Bibhu Mohaptra", one of the designers for the CFDA-Council of Fashion Designers of America. Many designers showed their collections at The Plaza on the lower level where the shops are located. I was part of the "Zoya" team who gave away free polish and mini manicures. Manicures are always the hit of the party and free polish?  who doesn't want free polish!!!
A sea of "Wicked and Wonderful" adorned the tables. Thank you to Leo and Erin (middle and right) from Zoya for making this all possible. Erin is my polish fairy that I always talk about :)  On the left of this picture is fellow blogger Adina from http://www.kraseybeauty.com/. She is a loyal Zoya follower and always blogs about their events and polish.
Here is Yassi also part of the Zoya team ...we work a lot of events together. Here she is giving a mini manicure to one of the guest. The popular color of the night was "Julienne" a sparkly purple.
Here are few of the designers looks from CFDA that were displayed. In the back you will notice the Zoya sign :)
The clothes were great and I congratulate all of the new designers who were chosen to participate in this big night out in fashion.

After the event I was exhausted because I had a very long day but that didn't stop me from seeing some of the great things going on around town when I left.

Karl Lagerfeld was one of the biggest highlights. I didn't get a picture because there were soooooo many people trying to get a picture of this genius in his tinted window van!  HUH? I didn't understand that but then again it is Karl Lagerfeld...and if you don't know who he is, well let's just say this "CC" Coco Chanel!!!  Mary J. Blige was at Gucci for her charity FFAWN and Bergdorf Goodman which people had to wait outside, because they couldn't get in the store, a store that has 9 floors!!!. Naomi Campbell  was at Dolce and Gabbana and Brooklyn Decker took Polaroid's at Armani. Louis Vuitton had a crowd outside watching a dance show and taking pictures. But that wasn't the highlight of Louis Vuitton...these were...

My job allows me to see fashion 3 to 4 months in before the public does and I saw these shoes back in April on an editorial photo shoot and fell in love with them then and couldn't wait for them to hit the store. Well they have, and let's just say the next time you see them, they will be on my feet. :) Get your shoe game up!.

Ken showed up in 3 different styles but with out his Barbie. This was a smash with young and old. Who didn't love Ken and wish they were Barbie when they were a little girl. I know some big girls who still feel that way. LOL.

It doesn't stop here. The crowds were massive and the weather was great and people were creative. Take a look at the crowd and what I found in the crowd. A man wearing a blinged/jeweled out helmet!  The picture does it no justice.
Unbelievable!!!

This is outside of Bergdorf's where a show was being held in the display window. People spilled over into the streets of 5th ave and traffic was a mess.

Downtown at Macy's Kimora Lee Simmons made an appearance and one of my followers took a picture and sent it to me.

                                                                       "Fabulousity"

So there you have it a glimpse of  "Fashion Night Out" It was an incredible night and a lot of fun. I can't wait until next season. Maybe next year Ill go downtown and see the greatness further south.
Anna Wintour and all the rest who came up with this idea..."Thank you" ;)

"Perfection is Possible"...Gotta Love it!
This is day 2 of fashion week. Ill be back on day 4 :)!

New York FASHION WEEK- Day 1

As you know I  am a editorial/celebrity/private manicurist. This week is a very busy week for manicurist, hair stylist, make up artist, stylist, designers, celebrities and models all in the fashion industry. This year Fashion week is being held at Lincoln Center, blocks away from the usual space at Bryant Park. I can't say I love that idea but I go with the flow. My day started today with a 7:30 a.m. call time for the look book of Chris Benz. From there I jetted off to Milk studios for the Costello fashion show where the nails were just plain and natural...no polish. Here are a few pictures of the back stage area of the Costello Tagliapetra fashion show.
I didn't take many pictures because I had to hurry and rush over to my next event at the Plaza Hotel for  the kick off of "Fashion Night Out"
Stay tune because fashion night out is up next!!

Serena Williams And Her Hollywood Nails Support Her Sister Venus at the U.S. Open!

The U.S. Open is in full gear. One of the Williams sister's has not been playing due to an injury but that did stop her from supporting her sister. Serena Williams as some may know, is a manicurist as well as a great tennis player. She loves everything nails and always has proof of that. This picture shows her love as she supports the other great tennis player, her sister Venus. Gotta love this nail look. Silver glitter and rhinestones, it's a match! Love/Love (that's tennis lingo for those who don't know)
